Hello current owners or those curious about EVs.
My name is Ryan LeCocq, I am a Bellingham local, though I have spent the past 10 years operating my business in New Mexico.
In the Albuquerque area I offer various services related to Solar, Electric Vehicles and charging.
I was originally a low-voltage installer of utilities and security, but transitioned my business after installing a large solar system, buying an EV and getting into charging and power storage for my own home.
I am passionate about new technologies, not just from an environmental standpoint, but as a genuine futurist who believes in new things.
Please respond to this ad through cL relay to inquire.
If necessary I can coordinate with you through my personal cell or non-local business number until I get my local one and update this ad.
In the near future I will be offering these services in Washington, but my services as sort of a general contractor for green installs will not be available until I get all of my licenses and insurance set up.
At the moment, I am offering diagnostic services, education and site survey for your installation of these technologies.
I highly recommend getting in touch with me before I get involved with installing chargers and systems for local businesses and government buildings.
The market here seems to be similarly scarce for people with these skills, just as it was in Albuquerque and I expect to be quickly scheduled out several years once I am properly set up.
My passion though will always be for taking individual consumers on the same path I have taken, to freedom and control over your energy and transportation.
VEHICLE SERVICES: I am fully able to perform computer diagnostic of all common EV models.
I am also a very experienced gearhead, so if you just have a blown strut or bad brakes, I can tell you that in about 5 seconds.
The part you can't get from any mechanic is knowing what all that electronic jargon means that the car spits out.
I am versed in both official and unofficial methods of diagnosing electric vehicles.
What this means varies by brand, so I will define that below.
TESLA: Tesla vehicles under warranty generally need to be serviced at a Tesla dealership, or authorized service location.
This has nothing to do with any of the reasons they claim and has everything to do with them being annoying about your warranty.
It doesn't matter if I could blow Elon himself away with my knowledge, if you let "some guy" do any kind of invasive diagnostic, they will give you a hard time.
That being said, I can easily look at the messages it is displaying and cut right through the stupid Tesla jargon to tell you what is going on and if it's safe to drive, or if you need to tow it to them.
If your Tesla is off-warranty, I can literally do anything with it that is possible within physics.
It is entirely up to you how dirty you want me to get my hands doing "aftermarket" fixes.
They absolutely exist and we're not talking coat hangers and bubblegum.
It just needs to be off warranty and not leased ;) NISSAN: Almost any service that can be done at a Nissan dealership (and several that can't) can be performed by anyone with the proper adapters and software.
There is a third-party app called LeafSpy that I can use to see every bit of info about your battery and charging health, with nothing more than a bluetooth adapter that plugs into your OBD2 port.
Nissan made this info fully readable under existing OBD2 standards, instead of trying to fool you with jargon like Tesla.
So the good news is that if you are the owner of any year Leaf or Ariya, I can pretty much check anything for you in a matter of minutes.
Even under warranty.
The diagnostic requires no modification or nonstandard connection and is just a fancier way of plugging a reader into the port.
I am also fully versed in repairing Nissan batteries by replacing bad cells.
This will void your warranty, but if you are under warranty, Nissan will replace a bad battery anyway.
If you are curious about full battery replacements and upgrades, I will offer that soon, but don't have a shop yet.
GM: GM EVs can be diagnosed as easily as Nissans, but lack the huge aftermarket community making apps and fixes.
I can diagnose the health of your battery and charging, but many of the tools I have to display this in a way that is easy to demonstrate are only for Nissan and Tesla vehicles.
If you are interested in battery replacement, it's the same story as Nissans.
I will offer that service once I have a shop.
Availability of batteries and cells is significantly less than Nissans and Teslas though, be aware.
Mini/BMW/VW: I have to be honest, German EVs are not my favorites.
While I can diagnose battery and charging health like any other make, they are worse than Tesla about trying to create fantasy talk that justifies them not honoring your warranty.
None of these vehicles are old enough to be off-warranty yet unless they are rebuilds, so if you need local service and nobody else will help, our goal is to get you limping to them.
Sorry.
SITE SURVEYS FOR SOLAR, ENERGY STORAGE AND VEHICLE CHARGING: Currently I am not licensed or insured to act as an on-site supervisor of your installation.
I will be very soon, but again, my whole next 2 years will probably be instantly filled with Casinos, Hotels etc.
There is no regulation saying that I can't go to your home or site before construction starts and give you an expert report on how you should start planning these installs.
Some of this knowledge can be offered by a standard general contractor, master electrician or low-voltage installer.
One thing I specifically take pride in is outside-the-box, big-picture thinking.
I excel at saving you thousands by noticing you have wiring you aren't even using that can be re-purposed, or finding a shorter route to a ground just by understanding physics.
I love "perfect" systems, that ignore things like human opinions or laziness and only exist to repurpose units of force as they are actually needed.
If that doesn't sound like your GC or electrician, maybe you might like to hear some of what I have to say.
Ideally I would like to be with you for the rest of your journey to power over your own power.
I got here because I was sick of the government, utilities and some council of oil-mongers telling me how much my life should cost.
More than your money, I want you to be where I am, sticking your thumb to your nose at them and looking out your window at power and mobility you OWN.
Let's plan how you can be like me, calculating the power requirements of your kid's first car, rather than teaching them that gasoline is dangerous.
Let's help you avoid pitfalls in spending too much, owing too much and getting smoke blown in an inappropriate spot by these evangelist solar salespeople.
If what I think you can afford is a used set of panels off an old hospital building, that's what we figure out how to do and get permitted.
If you have a creek I think could power a small dam, we're gonna look into that rather than assuming solar.
Etc etc.
I want to be your Green Giant, that looks down on Elon Musk and the governor like they're about to get fee-fie-fo-fummed.
So let's talk about your home, business or driving.
At the moment, I don't have a lot of need for consulting fees from you.
I would rather get involved with some homeowners and local businesses who are excited about this, before I get bogged down with large companies that just wanna throw some chargers in for the tax break.
MAKING EVs GO WAY TOO GOSH-DARNED FAST: I'm putting this way down here, because I expect this to be a very small subset of people.
Yes, I have a 2013 Nissan Leaf down in NM that goes 0-60 in under 7 seconds.
I mentioned I am a huge car person and that is definitely why I haven't missed the Dodge Challenger I drove before once since I drove my first EV.
There is no torque like instant torque ;).
I've seen a few of you in the area who seem to be starting to explore with the used Teslas and Leafs that are depreciating to the point of being affordable to break.
I am a bit further on that same curve, so if you are not finding people nearby who have actually done it and driven it, I will gladly be that person.
I am personally a bit anti-Tesla, but I have driven hacked Teslas and I can't deny I like the speed, if not the driving feel (too soft, like an Audi TT).
Yes, what you've heard is true.
If you have an off-warranty Model S that was originally a P trim, we can give it the L word and I don't mean love.
If you wanna mod Nissan Leafs, that is my jam.
I have built every model of Z car besides the wretched '89-96 and Nissan is my true love.
When I first got behind the wheel of the Leaf I ended up buying, the first thing I said was "Oh my god, it's the 2000 Civic SI I always wanted, but never bought.
" If you have ever enjoyed driving 90s JDM front-drive cars, this is like that, but in a Burnout game, where it's even more fun that it should be.
Did you know the car will also go full-speed in reverse and that it would be theoretically possible to flip the drivetrain and make a RWD roadster on it? Now I get that most people I talk to will just be fantasizing and will decide it's fine once the responsibility of driving a science experiment sets in, but I am happy to do the thought exercise with you anyway.
