Responsibilities
The Technology department prepares students for transfer, employment, or continued education in Computer Science.
The successful applicant is expected to:
-Teach an equivalent of 15 credits per quarter in courses that prepare students in field of Computer Science.
-Contribute to the future vision of Computer Science (discipline, career field, employment, or transfer program) at the college in collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators.
-Remain current in the field and participate in professional development activities that expand content knowledge and increase instructional effectiveness.
-Perform duties relevant to the needs of the discipline/program, as outlined in the faculty negotiated agreement (e.
g.
curriculum development, search committee participation, departmental meetings, etc.
).
-Engage in college and/or community service.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution with the intent to earn a master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
-Two or more years of experience in the software industry.
-Previous experience teaching or assistant teaching.
Salary and Appointment:
-The 2023-24 Pre-Master’s degree salary for a full-time, tenure-track Computer Science instructor for Fall Quarter 2024 begins at $71,897 (additional degrees, experience, and state-funded and negotiated increases will increase the actual starting salary); 174-day annual contract; Nine-month contract paid over twelve months.
Benefit Package:
-The position comes with a full benefits package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.
-Accrues 7 hours per month sick leave while on contract (10 months).
