Phoebe is a 6 year old Heeler mix.
Shy at first when meeting new people, she is a spunky, athletic girl who is super affectionate and loves to snuggle/pretzel herself around her owner at night.
She is super soft, so cuddling with her is one of my biggest joys.
She is pretty energetic, which would be best suited for someone with an already active lifestyle.
She is an excellent hiking/running partner.
I’ve never tried biking with her but I could imagine that with a lil’ training she might be even good at that.
She gets nervous around loud noises, so a busy city apartment, or an environment with loud machinery would not benefit her.
She would also have to be an only pet and can’t be around small children.
She is great off-leash and has a good recall.
She sometimes does this thing where she “scouts” the area in front of you to make sure it’s safe.
She’s smart and funny and loves goofing around with her owner on the carpet.
She also loves her “Chuck-it” and playing fetch.
However, she is not good playing with dogs at the dog park, gets nervous and protective of her toys.
She will get reactive if other dogs try and steal her toy.
No problem greeting other dogs on hikes.
Re-homing her was a hard decision for us to make, and while we are generally looking for a forever home, I’m also open to co-parent, if the circumstances allow it (obvi the person would need to be local).
For example, if the person who wants to take her in doesn’t have enough time for walks, I could come and take her on hikes.
Or if someone could only take her temporarily, that is also an option.
